Community Nutrition education
Malnutrition presents itself in deficiency of macro and micro nutrients, and obesity. It affects all aspects of child development including milestones, physical growth, mental acuity and immunity. More so, it predisposes to non-communicable diseases later in life, greatly impedes household economic growth and productivity.
At Food45, we believe that healthy feeding is a steady platform for a healthier and brighter childhood, and every mother deserves an opportunity to learn how to achieve it within their means. Malnutrition is a silent robber of thriving childhood.
Upon this background, Food45 has made great strides in reaching out to communities within Bulamu zone of Kasangati, People’s medical center and Kasangati Health center (Wakiso district, Uganda) and has partnered with key players like Aunt Porridge and Francelait in the campaign against malnutrition.
Mothers attending antenatal and immunization at the health center learn the basics of healthy nutrition for their children and are invited to join continuous classes that address deeper aspects of this crucial topic. Consultancy services are available at the convenience of the mother and other services like meal planning are also offered.
The difference between malnutrition and healthy feeding is knowledge and practice. Food45 looks forward to conducting such awareness drives in many more communities and health centers, and is open to partnering with like-minded organizations to weed out malnutrition.
